Great work here! Curious on your trafficking stat, tho. Most now say $27 million people trafficked. Would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for your comment.

I’m not sure if you are responding to the dollar amount of the sex trade or to the amount of people being trafficked. But, for each stat, the citations are provided at the bottom of the infographic. Thanks to the good people at Online School for puting this together.

Also, there is a problem with any statistics on the commercial sex trade. The fact that it is underground makes it inherently difficult to measure. Any stat, is at best, a good faith estimate.

Stats are helpful in that they shows the general magnitude of the issue.

Our stance at The Blind Project is: that it is unjust for a human being to be stripped of their freedom and sold as a commodity… even if it’s just one. We are committed to being part of the solution. And we are so thankful for people like you that obviously care about this issue.

Thanks again. Please feel free to reach out to me with any further questions. Be well.

Much of prostitution is consensual and legal amongst adults. I don’t think it’s anyone’s right to tell other ADULTS what to do PERIOD so long as it is mutual and legal. Children being kidnapped and forced into prostitution is something entirely different and horrible. If you are going to include women working for thousands weekly at the brothels in Nevada, what about pornography, sex toys, and so on? This seems off point.
